Sneakertopia

moments before you walk in…

Fashion is often overlooked as a big part of the art culture, when really they go hand and hand. We made our way to Los Angeles to show you exactly what we mean. Sneakertopia is a pop up exhibit showcasing some of the rarest sneakers & amazing street art. This amazing space was able to tell a story of how sneakers connect fashion, music, film, and sports. Growing up we all had that pair of sneakers we did not want to get rid of, this exhibit will bring back those memories…Sneakertopia will be open until February of 2020, get tickets here.

Louis Vuitton X

Louis Vuitton X brings you 160 years of collaborations and creative exchange. Inside the exhibit you will find over 100 pieces from the House’s archives, with some dating back to the early 1900s. The story of Louis Vuitton is very inspiring, watching a young boy grow the brand into the powerhouse it is today. If art history isn’t your thing you’ll be ok…Louis Vuitton X is full of “instagram-able” rooms to keep you entertained. Open to the public for FREE until September 15th, located 468 North Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills.

Figures of Speech by Virgil Abloh

DSC01552.jpg

Virgil Abloh has emerged into one of the biggest artist of this decade; from fashion shows to art galleries he has his hand in just about everything. Abloh got his start in fashion in the early 2000s when his t-shirt designs caught the attention of Kanye, shortly after he joined the inner circle and…well the rest is history. In 2018 he became the Creative Director for Louis Vuitton, the first African American to do so which gave him global recognition. This exhibit at MCA Chicago is this story in a physical space.

"AMERICA TOO"

AMERICA TOO is the third collaboration this year by Murakami & Abloh; with previous shows “Future History” being in London & “Technicolor 2” in Paris it was only a matter of time before the duo brought a show to USA. The two have a natural chemistry that seems to work well whenever they decide to collaborate on a project. This is not limited to just art, but fashion as well…with Virgil Abloh being the Creative Director of Louis Vuitton, it is likely for them to work together under the high fashion brand seeing as how Takashi Murakami started a relationship with Louis when he designed this bag in 2003. But for now we can appreciate the work they do have out, Gagosian in Beverly Hills was host of “AMERICA TOO” which was on display from October 10th thru the 25th.

What inspired you?

My inspiration comes from within. The idea of creating is exciting yet peaceful to me.

I use everyday things we as people see on a day to day basis around us.

It could be a bird I see flying but the colors on the bird could give me an idea 💡for a new color way.

Life is art and art is life . Life is my daily inspiration when it comes to creating.

What advice do you have for the youth aspiring to be artist?

For the ones coming up behind me (youth), be sure to always follow your creative heart .

It will lead you places . Always stick to your creativity and don’t change it for anyone.

That’s how you remain unique, how you remain you.

It’s easy to get lost on what’s going on with other artists or what’s the wave at the moment.

But stay original, stay you & never give up on that. Consistency is key.
