Took a trip to LA to sit down with Director/Photographer Sterling. He walked us through his timeline of artistry, starting in middle school with dance. Forming a group with his friends, he slowly became the videographer & editor for all of their youtube videos... you could call this the start. But it wasn’t until high school, when he filmed a documentary on his neighbors telling their life story is where the inspiration started.
“at 15 I saw my film play in an actual movie theater...it was seeing the people double & triple my age react with so much emotion. It gave me this subconscious feeling to keep creating”
-Sterling
Between high school and college Sterling started shooting music videos, mostly collaborating with long time friend and artist Adrian Gamboa. What was once a hobby while in college studying philosophy, soon became a full-time life changing job. With his only “film school” experience being a video production internship during college. Sterling is an example of what hard work and determination can turn into, he never looked for a handout or a shortcut; it was all grind. These days you can find Sterling traveling the world shooting stills and directing videos of your favorite artist (literally).
